What are community hubs?
Why community matters
You are not imagining it. Life is getting harder
and too many people are being left to deal
with it on their own.
A hub gives you a place to meet others who
understand what you are facing.
Together, we share what we know, look after
each other and take steps that would be
impossible alone.
Why your voice matters
You bring something no one else can offer.
Your story, your ideas and even your frustrations are part of the change we are
building.
When we show up together, our voices travel
further and decisions start to shift.
What are community hubs?
Power to Prosper runs regional hubs in Nottingham, Greater Manchester, Lambeth, and Newham. These hubs are spaces where Black and racially minoritised communities are using their lived experiences to tackle the root causes of poverty and debt.
Led by local grassroots organisations, the hubs act as incubators for organising, leadership growth, and advocacy.
They are about communities building their own power and agency – bringing together current and future leaders to creatively shape alternative economic futures and new realities where their communities can thrive.
Power to Prosper is planning to expand to Birmingham and Glasgow in late 2025.
Join a hub
Lambeth
Loughborough Community Centre and partners are mobilising to secure long-term ownership of a vital local space, protecting it as a hub for community support and organising.
Newham
Money A+E and partners are co-creating their next campaign with local residents, and exploring the need to secure free school meals for secondary school children in Newham.
Nottingham
Himmah and partners aim to build lasting power among Black and Brown communities by strengthening relationships, deepening leadership capacity, and campaigning strategically for the transfer of public buildings to Black and Brown-led organisations.
Greater Manchester
Mama Health & Poverty Partnership and partners are leading a Right to Work campaign while developing ‘Mama Village’ – a visionary, community-centred model for housing, wellbeing, and food sustainability.
